CXE
is another work developed in Hangar.
In this case we state the idea of navigation as authorship. A
navigation which makes links. This concept already was published
in Hypertext by George Landow, and it is present in an implicit
way in Xanadu by Ted Nelson. It's a collective creation activity
centred in the relationship between authorship and local point
of view during the building process of a non-linear navigation
structure.
It is made by 3 work teams connected by a Local Network. Each
team plays as one author.
In a first phase, we ask people to edit graphics in a specific
format and to insert in a hypertext file and save them in the
server. 26 files were made in our first experience.
The second phase could be called creative navigation. Each team
takes files out the server, adds a link and returns them. They
must work one-by-one, like in an usual navigation.
You can see the link structure generated by this experience. The
most interesting aspect is the distribution of the links and the
density changes. You can see how some nodes are not visited and
other ones looks like an atractor. The navigation in this network
and the elaboration of its diagram generated a very interesting
discussion. We don't discard to program an automated on-line version
in the future.
